11
years old Leela Arshi has been in correspondence with Pingalwara
for a couple of months. Her grandfather, Amrik Singh (senior) had
told her about the unique institution Pingalwara; how it was helping
hundreds of destitute everyday in living a comfortable life. Her
father Harpreet Singh Arshi who is a doctor at Exter University’s
Student Health Center, had explained to her that it is our duty
to help the deprived and unfortunate people of the society.
Thus motivated Arshi decided to raise money for Pingalwara and
came up with the idea of having a Bring – and – Buy
sale at her school. She was quite excited about her plans and Pingalwara
wished her all the success.
The sale was held at Central Middle School in St Leonard’s
Road, Exter on Friday, March 28. With generous help from the School
and her classmates she collected 800 Pounds.
On 15 April, 2003 Pingalwara was pleased to welcome the little
angel. Leela Arshi accompanied by her grand father Amrik Singh (Senior),
father Harp, mother Yash Patel, Brother Amrik Singh (Junior), Aunty
Paramjit Wood and uncle Paul Wood visited Pingalwara. Having visited
various wards and meeting the inmates, Arshi was happy that her
contribution was going to be of great help to the destitute poor
and sick people.
Pingalwara on behalf of her 850 inmates is grateful to Arshi, her
family, the School and all her classmates who made this visit possible.
Sharing brings and spreads happiness; you get so much in return
by giving out so little. Let us all together make this world a better
living place.
