The Brave Young girl About Pingalwara

The Brave Young Girl

Religion remains the only single force that guides us through thought and action, protects in the changing vicissitudes of life and provides happiness and love through His Blessings to billions of people . It is such a comforting thought to know that He is there with you whenever you need Him.

Kuldeep Kaur could never have gone through her ordeals without His help. She is 26 years old but looks like a young teenager. The innocent look  wins you straight away and the confidence with which she is handling everything apparently comes from a great inner strength.

She was married on 21 Nov 2003 and both husband and wife are devout Gursikhs. A week after they were married her husband, Manjit Singh developed severe head ache and was referred to the hospital, examination showed a brain tumor that required  immediate surgery. They also gave six months to Manjit Singh to live. Kuldeep’s parents urged her for a divorce and start her life afresh. But she flatly refused and made clear of her determination of staying with her husband. There was no further talk of a divorce.

Manjit belongs to a poor family with 2.5 acres of land with which his father barely manages to meet both ends. He has three sons including Manjit Singh and all of them are working.  Manjit had to be operated upon for which everyone contributed. The operation was successful and Manjit  was able to walk around and look after his basic needs. Kuldeep who is a Graduate in Music tried to find  a job but found it difficult to spare the time as Manjit required constant attention including radiation for the brain tumor.  Her in-laws also seeing her continual need of help provided her a shelter and asked her to fend for herself. No one came forward to help her.

Kuldeep was undeterred, she wanted to give her husband best of care and medical help. But how the expenditure was to be met? Help came from the local Sikh community who provided her with what was required.  Now another problem was arising. Manjit’s condition worsened he was paralyzed and she was pregnant with only a few weeks to go for the delivery. She was increasingly finding it difficult to look after her husband and desperately needed  someone who could look after her husband for a few weeks till she was fit enough after the delivery of her baby. No one came forward to help her.

Kuldeep is unwilling to take help from her parents as in case of  Manjit Singh’s death there are likely to be any number of  accusations by her in-laws. The Sikh community again advised her to take shelter in Pingalwara.

Manjit is being looked after by dedicated medical staff and all the required medical attention has been provided to him. Kuldeep is relaxed now but never leaves her husband’s side. There is never a shadow of doubt or worry on her face as to her future. She knows that He is with her always.

This brave Sikh girl needs your prayers and help.
